The students of Hemalkasa junior college cleaned the area near the bridge on the river Perlkota as Hemalkasa was cut off for five days from reaching any towns. The large amount of mud created health hazard, dead animals were rampant, and the garbage was everywhere. The students decided to clean the area themselves under the leadership of Mr Aniket Amte, son of Dr Prakash and Dr Mandakini Amte. Using a generator attached to a tractor, the students pulled the water from the river and cleaned the area.
