ICA Lauded for its Contributions

Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary was celebrated on August 11, 2019, at the India Community Center (ICC). The day-long event was very well attended by the Indian and non-Indian American communities. To commemorate the occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Subba Rao, an esteemed Gandhian and Indian freedom fighter sang songs and led Bharat Ki Santaan, a multilingual cultural presentation by children.

Ms. Reshma Nigam, President accepted proclamations from Assembly member

On behalf of ICA, Ms. Reshma Nigam, President accepted proclamations from Assembly member, Ash Kalra and Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese. Both presenters spoke highly about the valuable contributions made by ICA over the past five decades.  

Impressive panelists from diverse ethnicity and background shared their views on Gandhi’s principles and teachings as well as focused on apply non-violence and intolerance in the present world. Some highlights were Mythili Kumar’s Abhinaya Dance Company which performed a spectacular dance-drama on the life of Gandhi depicting special moments from his life’s journey; poetry was recited by Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand; and songs were performed by ICC seniors.
