Letter from the President

Dear Friends,

What a wonderful time to wish you all a very happy new year! We celebrate a historic moment as a new President takes over in Washington DC, along with our first woman Vice President, who has Black and Indian heritage. Inaugurations take place every four years, but every year there is a sense of wonder and rejuvenation in this sacred democratic practice.

We start the new year with the same sense of wonder and delight in knowing how all of you supported ICA's effort to support our charities during the past year darkened by a crushing pandemic in the world and racism in the US. Your moral support and monetary contributions for the pandemic, BLM, food for the hungry, floods, charitable efforts in India all strived to make a better world for those in need.

Today, ICA wishes you a wonderful new year! We hope you will continue to "lend a hand" to quote our new President Biden, to the underprivileged.

I end with a silent prayer for the 400,000 who have lost their lives to the pandemic. May the New Year herald a new beginning, may it encourage ordinary people to do extraordinary things, may this be the start of a peaceful year.

Stay safe and all the best,
Reshma Nigam

ICA's Supported Projects

For more than 50 years, ICA has worked closely with hundreds of NGOs in multiple states in India and USA to donate seed funding and support to incubate new NGOs, and to encourage inter-NGO co-operation.

ICA carefully reviews and selects each potential NGO project based on NGO requirement criteria such as current FCRA certification, USA-based Champion for the NGO, non-sectarian and non-political affiliation, compliance with ICA priority and vision, and more. The USA-based Champion acts as the eyes and ears of the NGO and ICA and co-ordinates all the project related documentation, activities, fund collection and disbursement.

In 2020, ICA funded pandemic and disaster response emergency funds. In 2021, ICA is focusing on scalable Impact projects in the areas of the Income generation, Rural development, and Health.

ICA celebrates such partnerships among ICA-nurtured NGOs in India which further its goal of connecting organizations and individuals so they can learn and collaborate.

The Snehshraddha project will include de-addiction programs and chronic mental anomalies such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

Empowering girls and women: Women's Leadership Initiative

The Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) team invites all who believe that only in an equitable & just society where women & girls are allowed to thrive and contribute can everyone prosper, to support the work that it undertakes annually.

The ongoing pandemic has devastated communities across the globe making it a very challenging year for all, but few recognize how women & girls have been hit the hardest and disproportionately impacted. How do we respond? The urgency of the moment requires renewed & sustainable support for their personal aspirations in entrepreneurship and leadership and is more critical than ever in these uncertain times.

WLI was launched to nurture & empower women & girls in India with the conviction that empowered women & girls make a positive difference in their families, communities and organizations. The participatory approach towards healthy living and the transformative power of personal growth through self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence is central to its mission.
